INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN
As a trained instructional designer, I have developed and piloted many educational/training programs, materials, and manuals. Below are three examples of "Training of Trainers (ToT)" programs that I developed, piloted, and implemented for various projects. I have also collaborated with Subject Matter Experts at the University of Florida to develop more than 40 undergraduate and graduate courses.
Example 1: Qualitative Research Methods
Gallery 1 shows a ToT developed for USAIDs Innovation Lab for Livestock Systems (LSIL), with whom I worked as a capacity development and gender specialist. The "Qualitative Research Methods" ToT was developed as part of an effort to increase the capacity of livestock researchers to conduct survey-based and qualitative research studies. The need for this ToT was one result of an in-depth analysis of human and institutional capacity development needs in university and research centers in Ethiopia, Rwanda, Nepal, Cambodia, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

Example 2: Participatory Training for Adult Learners
Gallery 2 shows a ToT that was originally developed in 2015 for the University of Florida's Tropical Conservation and Development Program (UF/TCD) and USAID's Integrating Gender and Nutrition within Agricultural Extension Services (INGENAES) program. The manual is designed to help teachers, educators, trainers, and facilitators develop training activities that are objectives based, participatory in nature, and have a sound pedagogical foundation. Illustrative examples are provided with a focus on gender and development. The manual was adapted in 2020 for USAIDs Innovation Lab for Livestock Systems (LSIL) (with the permission of UF/TCD and INGENAES) with illustrative examples focusing on livestock systems.

Example 3: Salud y Saneamiento Básico (Health and Basic Sanitation - Spanish Language)
Gallery 3 shows a ToT that was developed for the United States Peace Corps during my service in Honduras from 2009-2011. I served as an Environmental Educator in the Water and Sanitation Program. One of my responsibilities was to work with the Peace Corps, the Honduran Government's (formerly named) National Autonomous Service of Aqueducts and Sewers (Servicio Autónomo Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados - SANAA) and rural communities to design, develop, and pilot training materials in water and sanitation. The training was created to help rural communities administer, manage, maintain, and protect their water systems. After designing and pilot testing the training activities, they were developed into a Training of Trainers (ToT) manual. The chapter in this example is focused on basic health and sanitation.
